In December 2023 and in the spring 2024, Giacomo Capuzzo spent three months in Belgium at the Archaeology, Environmental and Geochemistry (AMGC) lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. During this time, he prepared plant samples collected in the eastern Italian Alps in the lab for the analysis of bioavailable strontium, with the aim of reconstructing local variations in its isotopes. He also prepared cremated bone and dental enamel samples from prehistoric burials in the Atesina region for the analysis of strontium and oxygen isotopes (only on dental enamel remains). It was great to see colleagues and friends again from the Brussels Bioarchaeology Lab, coordinated by Christophe Snoeck, a partner of the MOLA project. The photos show some images of the sample preparation for isotopic analyses.
